We bought our baby chicks Tuesday! They are so cute. We have two Silver Wyandottes and two Golden Wyandottes. Their names are Sunny, Josie, Gracie and Henrietta. They will be laying eggs in the fall.
We will be adding four chickens every two months until we get a dozen chickens. Why four every two months? Because I want to get to know my girls personally. I want them to feel comfortable with me. I had chickens before. Lots of chickens. I don’t know how it happened. We ordered 25 chickens. The next day the company sent us 25 more chickens. When we called them they said don’t send them back, they will die, so we kept them. The next day, 25 more chickens arrived. Seventy-five chicken! Not all girls! But roosters and hens. So we had about 35 roosters and 40 hens. I didn’t know any of them by name.
We sold most of the chickens. Then when we moved to the city we sold the rest.
Now that we are moving back, I want to know my chickens, so I am doing it different this time. A dozen girls and one rooster, only one. We will have a great supply of eggs for you, and some for our friends. I can’t wait. When you come in the fall you can meet the girls. Until then, enjoy the eggs from Shooting Star.
